Rainbow Food

Since so much of our focus is on the health of our bodies lately, I thought I would look into the overall protective power of the phytochemical pigment colors in our fruits and vegetables. (https://fruitsandveggies.org/stories/fruit-and-veggie-color-list/) Colors have a specific frequency and show up on the visible color spectrum as energy waves between the frequencies of ultraviolet waves and infrared waves. White Light is all possible colors combined and the color black is an absence of all color. (https://sciencestruck.com/color-spectrum-chart) A correlation has been made between the colors of plants, fruits and vegetables with specific benefits for the human body. (https://foodrevolution.org/blog/eating-the-rainbow-health-benefits/) The antioxidant compounds carotenoids, flavonoids, and tocopherols have been identified and studied for use in treatment of numerous harmful diseases. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5750618/) These antioxidant compounds can help the body not just for the addition of resources for body chemistry, but for the frequency of their energy waves.

Carotenoids are the red, orange and yellow pigments in plants. Interesting that they are the first three colors of the rainbow and the colors of the first three chakras of the human energy system. Beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin and alpha-carotene are all carotenoids in plants, fruits, veggies, bacteria and algae. They act as antioxidants, that is, they protect cells from losing oxygen, which can lead to accelerated aging, chronic disease and, something that has drawn our focus lately, the health of our immune system. For our health to be at its best, we want our cells to be able to easily hydrate and oxygenate.

Extensive study has been done on beta-carotene. A study published in 2018 done over 31 years showed that participants with high levels of beta-carotene serum in their blood lived significantly longer than those with lower levels for all causes of death, including respiratory disease, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer. The only adjustment in the study was increasing their fruit and vegetable intake. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30566060/) Foods rich in beta-carotene are sweet potatoes, microgreens, carrots, moringa leaves, kale, dandelion greens, spinach, romaine lettuce, parsley, mustard and turnip greens, collards, garden cress, apricots and cantaloupe.

Antioxidant flavonoids are integral to cell growth and differentiation. Types of flavonoids are flavanols, flavan-3-ols, flavones, flavanones, isoflavones and anthocyanins. Each has specific benefits for the body such as helping manage weight and cholesterol, maintaining hormone balance, contain nutrients and anti-inflammatory properties. Flavones are the pigments in blue and white flowering plants and can help with inflammation in the body. Anthocyanins are also pigments that are naturally produced by flowering plants giving them their red, purple and blue color. Tocopherols and tocotrienols are part of the vitamin E family. The antioxidant properties can reduce inflammation, which gives them anti-cancer, anti-aging properties. They can be found in oats, barley, rye, vegetable fats and oils such as sunflower, peanut, walnut, sesame and olive.

By adding as many colors as possible to our salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes and more, we get a myriad of protection for our bodies that can result in resistance to sudden disease, chronic illness and increase longevity. Mother Earth offers us numerous ways to nourish our beings as we go through this shift, supporting us through these changes. Connecting ourselves to colors in nature with as many senses as possible brings us personal benefits through their healing frequencies. When we take colorful organic non-GMO food into our bodies, on the chemistry level, phyto-pigments offer guardian protection for our cells. Time to take into consideration the frequency of our nutrition and not just the chemistry.

I just want to add one last thought. When putting new medical formulations into our bodies, particularly serums derived from animals, we need to become adept at easing potential allergic reactions. Severe allergic reactions can lead to the need for urgent medical care and ongoing treatment. I believe that, among other things natural, plants can help. Our greatest intellectual sensitivities can be our sharpest tools. Please look into easing allergic symptoms, and please detox regularly.

During these troublesome times, we can feel drawn towards defeatedness. We can’t let that take hold over us. The other day I asked Mother Earth for a hug and the next day this showed up. God has some unexpected surprises in store.

God is Victory.
