DOING GRIEF DIFFERENTLY

This is a post written by my  friend Sara Kujawa about experiencing the holidays after a loved one has crossed over.  I try to post it every year around this time.  No matter our circumstances, we can always choose to do grief differently.

NORMANROCKWELLIt was not until my son Adam’s sudden passing in 2014 that I truly understood resisting change. How was I going to be able to bear having a family Thanksgiving, let alone a family Christmas ever again without Adam these traditions were so engrained in me and so important that I never thought it would change, and that they would always be “picture perfect”. I remember stating to my family weeks after Adam passed that I did not know how I was to be able to ever have another holiday without him being present and that I wanted to just skip over them from now on.

Little did I know what a journey I was about to embark on just months into my grief. I always believed in heaven and the afterlife growing up. As an adult, I gained a greater understanding about heaven and the knowing that our loved ones will give us signs to let us know they are there. I knew and accepted that they could send a message through, songs, animals, feathers, and of course pennies from heaven for I had my own experiences after my parents passed. A few months into my journey through grief I learned of energy healing which led me on the path of learning the importance of how not to resist change, and to have faith, and trust that God will only give us what we can handle. As I learned to lessen the resistance and accept that I could not change the past nor control the future, I was able to look forward with a bit more ease.

As I did more doors began to appear for me to open. I could sense and see my life’s path in front of me as the grief began to lessen. Forgiving those involved in my son’s accident, and forgiving myself for any hurts I felt I had caused, or any hurts that others had caused me or my family…that was the key. This opened me up, and my heart began filling with gratitude and grace for what I had endured.

As I began to accept the change, I was able to see how I could do grief differently during the holidays. You see I began communicating with my son firstly through signs and synchronicites, and also with the help of spirit translators (mediumship). My granddaughter had already been hearing her father, my son, since his passing. I had to let go of how my holidays used to be, and create new ways to celebrate, new traditions to help enjoy the holidays with the knowing that my son was right there with us in spirit. My perception of that Norman Rockwell holiday meal has changed. What is normal, what is picture perfect anyways?

Our loved ones in spirit check in on us all the time, in fact we are never alone, and they want us to recall happy memories and silly stories. I encourage you all to do grief differently during the holidays by thinking about your loved ones and reminiscing and writing letters to them, by making their special dish, putting photos out of them. Anything that will uplift you. Remember we are emotional beings so be kind to yourself. Respect your feelings and take special care of what you put into your body. Light exercise, plenty of water and getting out in nature as much as possible will help keep your body in balance. Surround yourself with positive people who uplift you. Honor your feelings and feel free to be able to express them verbally or by journaling them. Try to stay more present in your thoughts. Write out a mantra or an affirmation to help you to be more present. I modified the Reiki Principles as my go to mantra.

~Just for this hour I will not worry.

~Just for this hour I will not anger.

~Just for this hour I will be grateful.

~Just for this hour I will show kindness to all.

Please know that their is no right or wrong way to do grief but there is certainly a freer, more peaceful way.

Blessings to you all this holiday season…..

Prayer of Meaning

You are the meaning of everything, Father. You are what gives us life. In this time of shifting change, we know You will always be with us and never abandon us. Because we know how loved we are, and we know that our best future is being set for us by Your Hands. Your Love for us is the common thread that connects us all, and it is the rhythm and hum that underlies all life. Our connection with You, our closeness, sets the meaning for all things in this realm. Our perspective from really knowing how loved we truly are by You. You, Father, are the reason for our existence, because we know that nothing is impossible for You. You created everything from a loving thought, a word and a breath. You have everything under control and You are shifting us into a better world.

“For no word from God will ever fail.” (Luke 1:37)

We are ready to stand as one family, under God, with freedom and justice for each and every one. We invite You into our thoughts, words and actions. We invite You into the meaning behind our words. We ask You to carry the truth of the meaning to another so that understanding can occur.

“For no promise from God will be impossible of fulfillment.” (Luke 1:37)

There are no words to express how we been humbled through this process. No words can convey our gratitude. Every bit of our being is feeling love and loved. Thank you for bringing us through. We are in a miracle, right now, and this miracle is giving completely new meaning to life, and to our world. You are emerging up front and center, of Everything. Hallelujah!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

In the name of The King,

Amen.

Prayer of Living Room

Father,

There are times when we want to live our best life, but feel weighted down by concerns. Old worries and fears keep us from becoming more of who we really are in order to live a fuller life. What you are telling us is to make room in our lives, to let go of as much as we can, in order to make room for actual living. There may be things we’ve outgrown, things that are now just taking up space and keep us from moving freely. That includes letting go of everything that no longer brings us joy, including old pain, grudges and worries. You want us to to make room to really live. To be able to expand into life and live more freely, interacting with your gift of life in a more consciously aware manner. To make room for our dreams to take shape and materialize in physical life.

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” (2Tim 2:15) You want us to let go of old stuff, to cleanse ourselves of everything that weighs us down, and to make room in our lives to really live. To prepare room for the good things that are coming in our changing world. “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4)

Bless us today, Father, with the ability to know what to do and how to do it. Bless us with wisdom, knowing and strength to accomplish all we want to accomplish today. Bless our hands as they go about this work of making room for new life to come in. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

For greater glory,

For better life,

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Prayer of Self Expression

We dedicate another day to the Lord. In service always.

Give us the courage today, Father, to sing our Soul’s unique song out into the world today. What we are realizing is that in a world that would like to put us into cookie-cutter slots and categories, what You are asking from us is to put a claim on our own authenticity and express our Soul’s own unique character freely and unsparingly. What you are telling us is that as the darkness recedes, our most cherished qualities are coming forth to be of use in new ways. To move our world toward greatness.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6) We’ve been called by You, Father, to shine creatively into the night. “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (John 9:5) We realize that being “different” may cause us to stand out from the rest, but you want our Light to travel outward in positive new ways. To take action, and be part of the change that brings people together with new goals and understanding. We soon realize that it is really You working through us.

“To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the proper answer of the tongue.

All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the LORD.

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

The LORD works out everything to its proper end— even the wicked for a day of disaster.”

(Proverbs 16:1-4)

With the utmost gratitude, we humbly submit ourselves to thy use. Thank you Father for all these changes in this time of dark to light. As we surrender to You, we are in amazement, that it is a miracle how it is all happening.

Glory be to you. May Christ reign victorious forever!

In humble service,

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Prayer of The Light Within

Father,

We know there are those who are saddened by the world right now. Lord please assist everyone to release their burdens and nurture the Light within to a bright gossamer glow, as you intended us to be. Come into our Hearts and our Minds so that we may move through these changes with Grace and Compassion, to stand side by side, lifting up all whom are in need. We are grateful for this day to make a difference in our world. To be the love that we are and to have an effect on our reality as we work together, hand in hand.

In Matthew we are told to let our light shine before others, so that they may see our good works. We know we are at the precipice of stepping into our future. It can feel strange to find ourselves here on a bridge between old and new preparing to take our next step. But from 1 John in the Bible we know, “God is Light, in Him there is no darkness at all.” And 1 Corinthians tells us “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the spirit of God dwells in you.”

As we take the next step forward, we know you walk with us, for you are The Light within us. Father we know that we are more powerful together and that when we join our voices, and the work of our hands, The Light inside us expands and shines into the darkness, which cannot overcome it.

Father, we are grateful for this day to be your love, in action.

Let it be so.
So be it. Amen

Blessed Arithmetic (freeverse poem)

Blessed Arithmetic

a freeverse poem by thinkcarebelieve

~

Standing in a babbling creek, feeling the flow of rushing cool water over my toes.

Anything weighing heavy on my Soul lets go and is carried away by the cheerful current into distant memory.

I relax into the moment, lighter, brighter.

My heart beats a rhythm of gentle transcendence.

Because I stopped being ashamed and blamed and looking for excuses, I rise.

I allowed the process of my own transformation to occur, and I stepped through the frame.

Because I let go of fear and took courage, I grew.

It feels right, it feels good, relief, success.

I don’t miss my old companions, the worry that hounded me.

They served their time, but this NOW is mine.

I take the hand of my blessed destiny being extended out to me.

My heart swells, because I believe in many cherished days of blessed arithmetic.

And my Soul smiles Yes.

Prayer of the Breakthrough

Father,

We come to you today about the situations that seemingly have no solution. When we as a people want to make progress, and the issues we want changed seem to be at a stalemate, we come to you for help. We make a plea for a breakthrough. By your hand, you have framed the issue and you have made these things less solid, but it is we who must see our way through. In our mind’s eye, we need to see it. We need to dismantle our beliefs of someone else holding power over us and de-solidify the deadlock. Father, we are tired of the endless loggerheads of two sides that never make any progress. Help us reach deep down into our hearts and pull from the strength of our true spirit so we can see our way through. You have put a frame around it, and like a mirror whose glass has been removed, we step through the situation and out of it.

We are tired of the endless conflicts and crave deep Soul to Soul connections. We crave an ongoing conversation with you, allowing the Holy Spirit guide our lives. Connected with you, we see in our mind’s eye the framework of what’s been holding us back… and we see ourselves step through it. We step through the empty frame and keep moving forward. No snares will hold us back. Nothing can stop us. “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:18)

Bless us this day, Father. You see it in your heart to give to us all we need and you do it out of love for your children. May we be ever mindful of your grace fully alive in our lives. May we always be held up by your light, showing us the way, and providing all the resources needed to fulfill your promise.

In loving service,
Amen.

Prayer of the Ever-Flowing Fountain

Greeting a new day with you in it, Father, is like opening up our favorite book. We rejoice. “As they make music they will sing, ‘All my fountains are in you.’” (Psalm87:7) You spring up and flow from within us like a fountain, in an ever-vibrant wellspring of love. Listening closely in stillness, we hear our Soul speak. It is our hopes and dreams that guide us and help us find our way to your fountain that overflows. We are filled by your divine presence which cannot be held back anymore and tumbles outward. The Earth sings a new song and it moves us. Our Soul stirs and whispers sweet remembrances of home. Let the music begin.

“In that day the mountains will drip new wine,
and the hills will flow with milk;
all the ravines of Judah will run with water.
A fountain will flow out of the Lord’s house
and will water the valley of acacias.”
-Joel 3:18

Bless us today and every day with your everflowing love. Keep us safe in your loving embrace. Bless our loved ones with an outpouring from your heart. May we ever be mindful of your presence in our lives, showing us the way and opening doors.

Let it be so,
Amen.

Prayer of Promise

Father,

We greet the day with anticipation for all the opportunities ahead. In humble gratitude we look and see doors opening for a happy future in our cloudy today. God’s promise of the rainbow. That gives us so much hope, Father.

We know the Light is shining. We know the dark is being exposed by the Light. Everything from the old system that is no longer appropriate is dissolving. We no longer see things in black and white, but understand your creation as a brilliant multi-faceted array of miracles.

Thank you for this day for your gifts of abundance and beauty in nature. May we become the stewards of the Earth, this sacred garden, as you intended us to be. May we always be connected to you through our hearts as well because we are told in (2 Timothy) “Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.” Thank you for entrusting her to us, we will take care of our Dear Mother Earth in earnest, because we now realize the importance of truth, love, balance, integrity and vitality that comes with the territory of being your children of Earth.

Bless our team, Bless Julian and Stella and their family, Bless E our amazing friEnd, Bless our country and our beautiful Earth.

Let it be so,

Amen.

Prayer Protecting Electronics

Father,

We ask that you remove any and all electromagnetic manipulations from all electronic equipment that are not for anyone’s highest good. We ask that you focus on all our devices, and that you clear the internet, all of our equipment and all space around us, wherever we travel, in all space/time continuum, in every dimension. We bring all those with nefarious intent to you, Father, for justice.

By the Will of the Father and the Blessings of the Son, Jesus rain down on all of us, cleansing us with unconditional love and fortifying the protection around us.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
