In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
(John 1:1-5)

Father,
Today we shine out into the darkness. Why? Because there has been a famine of Light in our world and You have chosen us to be your steady lanterns. As we expand outward, we find you have cleared the path for us to shine forthwith. For us to share our creativity with the world. For us to share our vision and opinions. As we do so, we will remember that You are still present in the midst of chaos. This allows us to avoid the temptation of despair and live with hope. Even though there is much gnashing of teeth, when we focus on your presence and your Light in our hearts, we can still live in joy and peace wherever we are, no matter what is happening, because darkness is just an absence of Light.
We will continue to shine through this transformation, even when we feel vulnerable. We will collect your Light and share it with all those who hunger, with all those who are starved for it. We will speak of truth and work alongside one another, piercing the darkness and letting the light through. We will strive to keep ourselves clean and clear, to restore ourselves in You regularly, for we are your steady lanterns.
“You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.” (Psalm 18:28)
Let it be so,
God is Victory,
Amen.
