Every day it’s becoming more clear that we have growing need for healing on an emotional level. As we climb the ladder of higher energies coming in, and as our ability to cope gets increasingly challenged, our “stuff” is coming to the surface to be looked at, healed and let go, so we can make space for good things coming. In my opinion, we really haven’t been educated in healthy ways to “deal and heal.” In fact, you might even go as far as to say, our dysfunctions have funded an industry that perpetually sucks time, money and energy out of us.
In a recent aha moment, I was reminded of something from my past. Back in my 30s I worked for an animal communicator. One of my tasks was to make up bottles of Bach Flower Essences per her instructions following a session. These would help the pet and the human deal with difficult emotional sufferings that resulted in physical imbalances and disease. I became very connected with these bottles of energetic healing from the plant kingdom. As I mixed them from the mother tincture, I was taught to put my energy into the bottle by tapping it on the palm of my hand 20 times before I sent out these wonderful custom remedies to her clients. Fast-forward to now, and I only keep one bottle around, something called “Rescue Remedy.” This I found in the natural health section of my local grocery store. I always keep it around, used it sparingly, and I honestly don’t know why I’ve ignored the rest of Bach’s Flowers. It just didn’t occur to me until a few weeks ago how helpful my magical old friends could be right now, so I had the opportunity to order the full set, and they just arrived.

In the 1920s and early 1930s, Dr. Edward Bach did extensive study to identify certain healing properties of the plant kingdom “to bring us back to that path of truth and light from which we should never have strayed.” He stated that the cause of disease is disharmony between the Soul and the Earthly personality. His work is based on the importance of staying true to ourselves as a Soul, reconnecting with who we really are, staying in harmony with Divine Spiritual Law, and using our own inner guidance. He wrote, “Healing must come from within ourselves, by acknowledging and correcting our faults, and harmonizing our being with the divine plan.” He believed the plant kingdom is here to help us by bringing us the energy of the positive. He did not find progress by becoming locked in a battle of willpower to overcome something, but by letting it go without judgment and focusing on what we want to bring into our reality. He wrote “To struggle against a fault increases its power, keeps our attention riveted on its presence, and brings us a battle indeed. To forget the failing and consciously strive to develop the virtue that would make the former impossible—this is true victory.”

There are 38 Bach Flowers and one combination formula called Rescue Remedy in the Bach System. They come in dropper bottles, although Rescue Remedy also comes in a lozenge and a cream. Rescue Remedy has five flowers that have a universal effect that addresses reactions to pain and stress. It can be taken internally by mouth or put directly on the skin or a bandage. The 38 Bach Flowers are from plants, trees and shrubs. The imbalances they address are a fascinating study of the human condition. There is Star of Bethlehem which can lessen shock and encourage comfort. Red Chestnut can assist people such as empaths who tend to be overly worried and anxious for others. Mustard can help those who feel deep gloom and despair attain the ability to go through life with serenity. There are other Bach Flowers that can help with jealousy, impatience, guilt, shyness, bitterness, disappointment, and the inability to let go. Personal custom remedies can be made with drops from up to six carefully selected mother tinctures in a new dropper bottle with spring water and a teaspoon of brandy, as a preservative. By tapping the bottom of the bottle on the palm of your hand, you are activating the contents with your own energy. There is potential benefit for pets, children and the elderly for conditions such as sleeping disorders, eating or digestion problems, aggression, fears, allergies, dermatitis and support during acute and chronic illnesses.

People are becoming more in touch with their bodies. On the whole, we were taught to ignore pains and inflammation in order to power through and get things done. Something is changing. We get concerned about the smallest symptoms as if we are seeing them with new eyes, and in some cases, with alarm. While it is a good thing to listen to one’s body, we need to develop a sensible mode of two-way communication, one that includes the roots of disease in the emotional body first. When we re-harmonize on an emotional level, the physical body will stay in balance. The fact that we are becoming more sensitive and in-tune to subtle changes means to me that Bach Flowers would have even more success now.
I plan to make up dropper bottles of Rescue Remedy from my mother tincture, using the method described above. I’m going to give them to people around me. It will help them remain calm, handle stress, not go into fear or worry, and stay in a higher vibration as much as possible. I am happy I have reconnected with my Bach Flower friends again and by sharing them with pets, friends and family, I hope it will help them get through this challenging time.
