The highest point of the Going to the Sun highway is Logan Pass. It is 6646 ft above sea level and is along the continental divide. It is only open in the summer and there is a visitor’s center nestled in the peaks.
The trees there have been affected by high winds through the pass.
Animals have adapted to the high elevation area.
Like Big Horn Sheep…
… and Mountain Goats.
This is one of the peaks up close. Notice the striations of the rock. The green color comes from chlorite and the red color comes from hematite.
Here the angles of the striations illustrate the ancient upthrust that created these mountains when tectonic plates collided.
We sure developed an appreciation for this incredible place. Thanks for coming along!

Thanks for taking us on your trip. Beautiful pictures of beautiful scenery.
