After the weekend of talks with China, Secretary Bessent: “I would say one of the big takeaways from this weekend — the United States will continue a strategic rebalancing in many areas that were exposed as supply chain weaknesses during COVID, whether it’s medicines, whether it’s semiconductors, steel… We will continue moving toward U.S. independence or reliable supplies from allies on those — but the consensus from both delegations this weekend is neither side wants a decoupling.” Tariffs will be paused at 10% for 90 days. “What we have is a 90 day pause on the reciprocal tariffs. Both sides de-escalated by 115%… Over the next 90 days, we have a mechanism to meet with the Chinese trade delegation again.”
One key part of the discussion was the fentanyl crisis. Secretary Bessent: “The upside surprise for me from this weekend was the level of Chinese engagement on the fentanyl crisis in the United States. They brought the Deputy Minister for Public Safety… and he had a very robust and highly detailed discussion.” Ambassador Greer: “Both the Chinese and the United States agreed to work constructively together on fentanyl and there’s a positive path forward there as well.”

President Al-Sharaa concluded with his hope that Syria would serve as a critical link in facilitating trade between east and west, and invited American companies to invest in Syrian oil and gas. The Russia-Ukraine war and the war in Gaza was also discussed.

Internal CBP data obtained by FoxNews reveals Border Patrol apprehended 8,383 illegal aliens at the southern border in April, down 93% from nearly 129,000 in April 2024. Per CBP data, only 5 aliens were released in April, compared to roughly 68,000 released in April 2024 under the Biden admin. CBP says the 5 releases were only temporary for special interest court cases. April 2025 averaged 279 Border Patrol apprehensions of illegal aliens per day. April 2024 averaged 4,297 Border Patrol apprehensions of illegal aliens per day.
Analysis: The border is effectively closed/shut down, catch and release is over, gotaways are minuscule, and there has been no traditional spring surge of migrants arriving at the border. Messaging, executive policy, and consequences have intersected to create the quietest border in modern history. CBP statement: “For the first time in years, more agents are back in the field – patrolling territories that CBP didn’t have the bandwidth or manpower to oversee just six months ago,” said Pete Flores, Acting Commissioner of CBP. “But thanks to this administration’s dramatic shift in security posture at our border, we are now seeing operational control becoming a reality – and it’s only just beginning.”

The move supports decentralizing operations and focusing on crime-fighting.
- Structural Deterioration: The building, completed in 1975, is crumbling, with issues like falling concrete, outdated HVAC systems, elevators nearing the end of their life cycle, and netting installed to protect pedestrians from debris. Engineering reports from 2001 rated it in “poor condition” and not at an industry-acceptable level due to deferred maintenance.
- Obsolescence: The Hoover Building is inefficient and unable to support modern FBI operations. Its IT infrastructure has reached capacity, limiting expansion, and the building’s design, meant for paper files and outdated technology, doesn’t meet current needs like advanced cybersecurity or intelligence flow.
- Workforce and Space Issues: The FBI has outgrown the building, designed for 7,090 employees, and now leases additional spaces across the D.C. area, leading to inefficiencies. A new headquarters aims to consolidate operations, reduce leased space, and improve employee safety and workspace quality.
- Security Vulnerabilities: The building fails to meet modern Interagency Security Committee standards for an Intelligence Community-grade facility. Its design, including a moat-like perimeter, lacks resiliency against minor or catastrophic events, and retrofitting is costly and disruptive.

When the border was open, migrant children were placed with unvetted sponsors by Biden’s HHS. The operation to find and rescue trafficked and abused children is just getting started, it will get more and more serious and is not stopping. The FBI’s Operation Restoring Justice and the DOJ’s Operation Take Back America are working hand in hand. We need our Representatives to get on board and support these efforts, not protect the criminals.
