Prayer of True Freedom

Father,

We are no stranger to the experience of betrayal and injury. It seems we cannot walk the earth without coming in contact with some type of harm. That pain may have grown, or carried, or buried deep down. Your son, Jesus, taught us to be resilient, to give love in return and turn the other cheek. We may still need a little help with that, Father.

There will come a time when we will be forced to contemplate how we will leave things. Will we leave a memory of anger and bitterness to our friends and loved ones, or do we wish to influence the hearts and minds of everyone we leave behind with forgiveness and gratitude for what we have lived.

When it comes down to the nitty-gritty, we really want all those who love us to live their lives in joy and peace. This would be the true spiritual freedom that Jesus asked us to step into and with which You imbued us with when you gave us your divine spark of life. We hereby let go of all resentments, anger, shame, blame, guilt, regret, woundedness, numbness and apathy. We take that heaviness and give it to You to be transformed into blessings, thank-you Father.

We are now able to be grateful for the experiences in our lives, and in doing this, we are able to perform one of the most important acts of living. May we have the experience of true spiritual freedom to have the compassion in our hearts to be grateful for what we’ve lived. For it has taught us about what we want, and what we do not want to recreate ever again. You are the miraculous Transformer of Blessings and we are grateful.

Let it be so,

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
