Luck was with President Trump in this 61st Week. Operation Epic Fury saw several key targets struck and the loss of Iran’s Navy, Air Force and Uranium enrichment plant so that Iran can no longer make nuclear bombs. That was one of the main goals of the U.S. strike on Iran. Today, Iran has signaled that it wants to begin peace talks. The U.S. is quietly preparing for them, but refuses to give a ceasefire. After Iran fired 2 IRBMs at U.S. base on Diego Garcia, Iran showed that it has intermediate range ballistic missiles (IRBMs) that have an attack range of 3,000–5,500 km (approximately 1,860–3,418 miles), and that Iran will use them. President Trump and his TEAM proved yet again that he has things well in hand. The Strait of Hormuz is open and a coalition of ships from 20 countries has formed to keep it open. Sanctions on Russian oil are lifted to bring relief for any global supply shortages. Iran’s oil was sold and will be held for Iran’s new government when it is decided.

On St. Patrick’s Day, President Trump held a Bilateral Meeting Taoiseach of Ireland at the White House. President Trump stated that “The Irish did not come to America. They helped found America.” The U.S. and Ireland have a tremendous trade relationship which will be expanded very soon. They discussed security issues such as the Strait of Hormuz for energy security and oil supply stability, NATO allies’ limited involvement in Middle East actions, and peace efforts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

A wonderful Bilateral Meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi was also held at the White House this week. She was honored at a dinner at the White House that evening. They discussed the Iran conflict and Strait of Hormuz, trade, a $40 billion nuclear reactor deal, critical minerals/rare earths and energy security. Indo-Pacific stability was also discussed, along with dealing with China as a strategic challenge.

Even though we re involved in a conflict and there have been terror attacks on U.S. soil, funding for the Department of Homeland Security is still being withheld by Democrat lawmakers and TSA, the Coast Guard, FEMA, CISA and the Secret Service are not getting paychecks. Lines at airports are long. Elon Musk offered to pay TSA employees during the shutdown and President Trump agreed to send ICE agents, who are still being paid by the OBBB, to assist TSA agents at airports. Senator Markwayne Mullin was confirmed by Congress for Secretary of DHS and goes to the full Senate next.

The SAVE America Act is being debated on the Senate Floor for the third day, and through the weekend. Attempts were made to separate out a clean voter ID portion of the bill and pass that, but Senate Democrats blocked it. Two Democrat Senators said they would vote for something like that, but they haven’t gotten the chance to actually vote on it yet. Discussions are ongoing.
