Tariffs for American Prosperity
One of the many ways President Trump intends to bring prosperity to the United States is through the use of tariffs. The United States is a thriving consumer and countries have been getting wealthy selling their products here. President Trump intends to harness the buying power of Americans by levying an additional charge directly to other countries selling their products made elsewhere and sold in the United States. It will bring manufacturing back to the U.S. and attract other countries to bring their manufacturing here also.
President Trump made an announcement yesterday that he will create the External Revenue Service. A department that will collect tariffs, duties and all revenue from Foreign sources. Tariffs will be collected directly from countries who sell products inside the U.S. President Trump says that Americans have been getting the short-end of trade deals, and Americans have been paying the price for it. He plans to even the playing field with tariffs.
President McKinley used tariffs to bring the United States to its wealthiest point in history without an income tax. He charged 50% tariffs on all American products and America became the manufacturing leader of the world. Everything was made better in America and there was a demand for products such as steel, oil, automotive, textiles. It made America strong and sovereign and there was such a surplus that the next president, FDR, was able to use that surplus to run building projects for America’s infrastructure with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) which put thousands of men to work on projects in national forests, parks, and public lands. America was booming and we want that again!
