Prayer to Serve

Thank you Father, for claiming us as your own. Knowing Your love and feeling it in our hearts drives our faith. The faith in knowing that Your love is everlasting and You will never leave us, nor forsake us. This is why we serve. Because when we’ve gone round and round, and explored all the indulgence, all the emotions, all the distractions, we come back to the teachings of Your Son Jesus who said, “For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines? But I am among you as one who serves.” (Luke 22:27) We are here in service, Father. “For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.” (Corinthians 4:5) For to serve is a blessing. “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (Acts 20:35) Guide us in all ways and strengthen our faith. Fill us with Your Light, for it is in humble gratitude that we serve. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28)

You’ve given us everything and claimed us as your own. You’ve shown us and helped us understand what is truly important in life. You’ve guided us to discard old ways that weren’t healthy for us. You’ve helped us to think of others, instead of ourselves. Father, we’ve all experienced so much pain and suffering. Help us to be better servants in selfless service to others who need it most in our world to make our world better. Bring blessings to all who are suffering now. Bring them relief and deliver them from all who oppress and snare. Bless our world. Bless us all.

In the name of The King,

Amen.
