Prayer of the Golden Path

Father,

As we embark on this day, we are reminded that the value of life is in the journey, not reaching the destination. As we experience each moment, our intention reaches out and sets our path before us. It is our discernment that carefully plucks the weeds in our path, every lesson we have mastered along the way is a cobble. Along our path are the flowers of events in our lives that may or may not affect us. We can fuss over them being there or we can admire the splendor that they offer. All the things along the way of our path, Father are there to make it as beautiful and detailed and magnificent as the love that you have for us. You love us enough to allow us to make our path as winding and treacherous as we want, we can explore far out in the weeds, and you will still love us when we come back to the path that is paved and straight and lighted with your light.

We choose, Father, to trod the path with you, “My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside.” (Job) We are so fortunate for the gift of this day with which to create whatever we wish. You have given us a new lump of clay to mold into a masterpiece, and we promise to not waste one bit. You sent your son, the Master of Love, to teach us just how to do that. We will abide by his teachings, and not ignore them because, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” (John) Because what you want us to learn and master, is that any one of us could switch places with another at any given moment, and until we do, we won’t truly know what that other person’s path has been like, and if we could find the caring to open our hearts to understand and give the love and compassion that we would want if it were us… then we know the way.

Your message today Father, is that when we treat eachother as if it were us on the receiving end, our path becomes lit with the golden light of your golden rule.

Please bless us each and every one. May all our paths be golden.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
