Light Therapy

Our bodies emit light in pulses, 100,000 light pulses per second, in fact. These pulses are called biophotons and are emitted by all living things. This was proven by German Biophysicist Fritz-Albert Popp in 1974 by building an instrument called a photomultiplier to measure them. When we are healthy, cells are coherent and pulse in a natural rhythm. Unhealthy cells, however, lack the coordination and periodic rhythm. It was found that the body’s innate photo repair mechanism works best at a 380 nm (nanometer) wavelength. Therefore, to heal DNA, the correct frequency of light can be applied to stimulate the body’s repair system. It has also been suggested that the biophoton field between the nervous system and the brain may be the basis for memory. Recent studies show that through DNA, biophotons also assist in communication between various tissue types for a body working synergistically indicate this may be how Qi, Chi or Prana life force energy flows. Biophoton therapy can assist the body regain energy flow and curb oxidative stress. It is a non-invasive holistic process that can boost coherent light and eradicate chaotic light.

Our sun emits light in full spectrum waves that can be seen and not be seen. Different wavelengths and colors can be physiologically healthy. Sunlight in general has been found to have curative properties that elevate mood and improve health. Not only was the sun worshipped in ancient times, but also was the focus of major health practices of taking in sunlight and air for “natural hygiene.” There has been much warning about ultraviolet light and skin cancer, but there are wavelengths that have also been found to be beneficial for the body as in the production of vitamin D, but also for antiseptic purposes.

Not only does the sun have a direct bacteriocidal effect on the skin, but it changes the oils in the skin into bacteriocidal agents themselves. Even the vapors rising from natural skin oils… are capable of killing bacteria.

UV light therapy has been used in treatment for diseases such as tuberculosis and lupus, mumps, asthma, blood poisoning, viral pneumonia, infections, peritonitis, and even cancer. One method is to remove some blood, treat it with UV light and inject it back into the patient. The amount of sunlight one absorbs per day has also been linked to the activation of the pineal gland. Physiology textbook publishers Guyton and Hall report that the pineal gland is “controlled by the amount of light… seen by the eyes each day.” The pineal gland excretes the hormones dopamine, serotonin and melatonin. It has also been associated with psychic and spiritual abilities and has been known as “the seat of the soul.” When light is taken in by the eyes, it travels along the optic nerve to the part of the brain that records visual stimulation, and passes it to the pineal which converts it to hormonal transmissions for the body. It could be said that the pineal is the receiver and transformer of light.

Gathering the sun’s healing rays is highly advantageous for healthy regulation of body functions. Some benefits of sunlight are:

  • Kills off pathogens and microorganisms
  • Stabilizes blood sugar
  • Reduces cholesterol
  • Lessens lactic acid buildup
  • Regulates breathing
  • Regulates resting heartrate
  • Assists lungs absorb more oxygen
  • Optimizes muscles use of oxygen
  • Production of vitamin D helps the body burn fat
  • Increases blood supply through sympathetic nervous system
  • Normalizes hormone levels

Humans have been evolving with sunlight for millions of years. We are designed to naturally absorb energy from our sun. Another therapeutic dimension to receiving light is colored light. Sometimes, especially toward dusk, sunlight naturally seems to have a colored hue, that is actually therapeutic for us and our planet. Something similar can be done in therapy, colored lights have been found to regulate and balance the autonomic nervous system. A colored light healing system was developed by Darius Dinshah in 1897. It consisted of full spectrum light shown through colored gels toward the patient receiving the phototherapy. Colored light emits energy specific to a cell’s performance of a particular function.
