Trauma can reside not only in our memories. It can reside in our cellular memory. When it becomes too cumbersome to go on, it’s time to release the old baggage, preferably with love and forgiveness. The act of acceptance does not take efforting, but merely allowing. When we allow, then we can feel the flow of things. When we can feel the flow of things, then we can BE in the flow of things. Until we let go and accept, then we can truly open to the magic in our life. It’s like going from black and white to Ultra HD.
When we are freed from the burdens of needing and expecting resolution of our pain, then we can be in the moment and then we can create something better in our life that makes us feel better and vibrant and truly alive. When we let go and allow, we can transmute our pain into beautiful creations.
To be caught in circular thinking of the what ifs, the I should’ve, the they did this to me, we churn a whirlpool of emotion that has no real end. We can spin and spin and then the next poor human being that crosses our path can become the unfortunate recipient of our turbulent emotions. Then that person’s day has been affected, and their own pain may have been triggered, and they spin until they release on the next person.
Until we stop ourselves in the cycle and pause, the only way to get off the merry-go-round is to find a way to accept. Accept that things are the way they are, that none of us are perfect and circumstances and actions caused a situation that happened for reasons we do not know now. Whichever way we can overcome our own resistance and attachment to our pain, and get to a point to allow grace to occur.
Emotions are magnetic, thoughts are electric. The emotions we exude attract like things to us. If we can get to a place of peace inside ourselves, even for a moment, it will expand. Add one moment more and one moment more and peace will begin to come back to us. Be patient, try not to judge the process and above all else, being kind to ourselves will assist the flow of things. Believe it or not, our thoughts create an energy. So, affirmations will help us take our first step forward. A good place to start is with three. I am at peace. I accept myself and I accept life. Everything that has happened and is happening is for my highest good. As we get comfortable, with these, more can be added.
To be human is to have less than desirable thoughts come through our minds. It is normal. If possible, we can try to stop them and change them into something neutral. If not, we just become an observer of these thoughts and try not to get upset, and let them flow away. We can follow them off with the affirmation, I have the best intentions for the highest good for myself and for all.
If we get into a spiral of circular thinking, one helpful thing to do is tapping. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) can help center oneself when nothing else works. One taps on any meridian point with one’s finger at regular, rhythmic intervals. I tap the spot between my eyes at the top of my nose, and it works. You can learn more about tapping here.
Dr. Wayne once said, “Acceptance means no complaining, and happiness means no complaining about the things over which you can do nothing.” Remember to breathe as you reclaim your life and your sovereign right to a peaceful existence.
