This morning we said goodbye to peaceful Homolovi and our amazing Ranger friend Gwen.  Last night, she and her family came over for a visit.  I made Gwen an Angel pin and they chose stones from my tumble polished stones.  I am honored that they will be using them in the creation of their incredible pottery.  They gifted me with some beautiful Hopi jewelry, t-shirts and an awesome piece of original pottery artwork.  So sad to leave, but we know we will meet again. 

Back to the I-40 and headed east past the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest.

As we approached the New Mexican border, we saw signs of the dramatic landscape that was to come.

And there it was… up ahead.

Bright color…

Formations sculpted by wind and water…

Steadfast giants connecting Earth and sky.

And then we left the state where we’ve spent a quarter of a year for the past two years… and entered the land of enchantment.

And it was indeed enchanting.

When we reached Gallup, we turned north on NM 491 toward the four corners area and the land changed again…

…and yet again to include trees and giant sand castles.

We’re staying in Kirtland at a brand new RV Park and tomorrow we will go to experience Chaco Canyon.
