We hit Arizona Route 95 this morning heading north.
We hadn’t been above Parker and as we approached Parker Dam, we entered a beautiful oasis resort area with an awesome looking golf course.
Hard to convey how wonderful a watery sight like this looked to us after 3 months in the desert.
The rock formations became more varied.
We passed through the Parker Wildlife Preserve. The water is the Colorado River that comes down from Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam.
It was super picturesque scenery.
We thought that desert oasis was pretty special… and then Lake Havasu came on the horizon.
Huge, sprawling haciendas overlooking the lake with the California mountains in the background.
Route 95 soon joined the I-40, which basically follows the path of the old Route 66.
The Santa Fe Railroad line also runs alongside the I-40. We also saw a wind energy plant approaching Yucca, AZ.
And the landscape began to change again.
This one looked like a castle.
Approaching Kingman, another southwest golf course.
