Wow, it looks like we left Flagstaff a couple of days before a number of tornadoes hit Wednesday morning. There were a number of RV’s damaged as well as homes, but no deaths thank goodness.
Well, we sadly left the southwest and headed east on I-40 to connect with family and friends in the east. Much of I-40 west of Oklahoma City parallels or overlays historic Route 66. We’re in Arkansas now, on our way to Tennessee to spend some quality time with the Folsoms.
When we left Arizona, it looked like this.
Entering New Mexico, the color scheme changed and scenery was enchanted with beautiful mountains and mesas. We really loved Albuquerque and want to go back to spend more time there.
Didn’t get pictures of Texas… sorry. But I can describe it as looking similar to Arizona, with larger bushes and a tree or two, here and there. As we entered Oklahoma, we saw more trees, but still flat. When we checked into our campsite, the storm shelter was pointed out to us, just in case. Luckily we did not need it.
Arkansas brought more green and more trees and then we saw our first lake in a looooonnngg time. The Arkansas River ran alongside us and the greenery became more lush, and the ground hilly. From our vantage point, Arkansas looked quite similar to Pennsylvania, with their Ozark Mountains being about the same size of PA’s Poconos.
Our Cradlepoint Wireless Router died in Utah, luckily it’s still under warranty and was sent in today. We’ve gone through several of Nevada Barr’s Anna Pigeon series lately. We’re really enjoying them. So far, our top three favorite places are: Montana, Oregon Coast, and New Mexico.
Angie is doing very well. She is looking forward to experiencing farm life in Tennessee.
So… Now our map looks like this:
