Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

Albuquerque’s unique fall weather makes for perfect conditions to fly hot air balloons. The week long Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a spectacle to behold.

We woke up in this morning’s darkness…

… and headed for the Sandia Casino where we had a glorious view…

… of the “Dawn Patrol”, where four balloons go up in the darkness to welcome the sunlight…

…and then the balloons began to launch for the day’s flying competition…

… where they floated between the mountains…

… and over the Rio Grande…

…for us, it was totally thrilling…

…and this was one of the smaller launches…

…there were less than a hundred.  The big launch is called the “mass ascension” and there are hundreds of them then.

Here’s the video… hope you enjoy!

  1. Hi…I got your blog url from another rv peep who mention that a park neighbor has a Cougar. I asked her for your url…and must say I really enjoyed it… Wanted to know what model Cougar do you have?

Oh also cannot find where to click to “follow you”..well…your Blog. ~Tricia

  2. Hi Tricia! We have a 2006 291 EFS. The that is difficult to walk through with the slides in, but we like it. Only had a few bugs to work out and once they were squared away, no more problems so far.

When I get our camera back, I'll do a blog post with pics of the interior so everyone can see how we're living.

Thanks so much for your kind comments! At the moment we're taking a breather in South Carolina for my dental work. Then we'll visit friends and family for the holidays, and then will be back to our adventures again!

It's nice to have this time to get organized and caught up on my stone work. Although working stones and making wirewrapped art jewelry can pose some challenges, the rewards of getting some finished pieces are enjoyable!

I think the best way to follow us is to become a follower, I just put the follower gadget back on the right hand side of the page under the search function.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or requests. Take care, and thanks again for your support and kind words!
