Finding the Children

On June 11, 2026 there was a a press conference on the whole-of-government efforts to locate and safeguard unaccompanied alien children (UAC), address issues from the prior administration, improve sponsor vetting, and hold accountable those involved in smuggling, fraud, and exploitation/trafficking.2026 press conference with Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche (DOJ), DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, and Acting Director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement Angie Salazar (HHS/ORR).

Officials discussed the scale of unaccompanied children referred to ORR, Office of Refugee Resettlement in previous years (hundreds of thousands). Reports of many children becoming unaccounted for after release to sponsors. They gave a progress report on locating a significant number of these children (reports cite around 146,000 located at the time of the briefing out of the 3-400,000 missing). A discussion on indictments related to smuggling and exploitation (e.g., cases in Ohio involving sponsors allegedly abusing the system). Reforms for better vetting were discussed: stricter background checks, in-person verification, home visits, and collaboration between DHS, HHS/ORR, and law enforcement to identify fraud, trafficking indicators, or unsafe placements. Efforts are focusing on fixing a broken system by locating children, investigating exploitation, and strengthening processes to prevent trafficking or abuse—aligning with your description of helping found/exploited/trafficked children through better safeguards and accountability.

The FBI has been running Operations since President Trump took office such as Operation Grayskull,

and Operation Summer Heat.

They have been partnering with other federal agencies to share information and resources such as in Operation Dirt Bag,

And Operation New Dawn.

With all these federal agencies partnering with eachother as well as local and state law enforcement, they form a powerful force indeed. With a focus on rescuing children from child s*x predators, and by taking down predator networks, bringing them to justice, these heroes are making it a better world for our children and grandchildren. The message is clear, “If you hurt our children, we will find you, and we will hold you accountable.”

The FBI stats are stunning:

  • – $7 Billion in savings from previous administration
  • – 51,200 violent crime arrests
  • – 8 of FBI Top 10 arrested
  • – 8,370 child victims located
  • – Biggest drop in murder rate EVER

Hiding within the chaos, large sporting events are an opportunity time for traffickers to conduct their business. HSI, Homeland Security Investigations ran operations during the 2026 World Cup Soccer games held in the United States. 8 trafficked children were recovered.

HHS Whistleblower who came forward during the Biden Administration, explains how the Trump Administration stopped the flow of children coming through the border, and fixed the problems within the Office of Refugee Resettlement, while working to correct mistakes and track down all those missing children. Some of the ways ORR has been improving its process are (2025–2026):

  • Strengthened collaboration with law enforcement (DHS/FBI) to identify and address trafficking risks while maintaining child welfare focus.
  • Processing of backlogged cases and expanded monitoring to ensure children are safe after placement.
  • Emphasis on returning children to families (when appropriate and safe) or providing stable U.S. placements/foster care.
  • Broader reforms to improve efficiency, accountability, and outcomes for the children in its care.

Shortly after becoming HHS Secretary, RFK Jr visited ORR and posted this short explainer.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement’s core mission is to promote the health, well-being, and stability of refugees, unaccompanied children, and other eligible individuals through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based services. As of January 1, 2026, ORR oversees all domestic resettlement, improving program efficiency. With the support of its network, ORR now coordinates the placement of refugees to be resettled in the United States.

DHS put out this helpful explainer on what is human trafficking.

This is another example of how Departments worked together to find as many children as soon as possible, once President Trump took office.

This is another example of how Departments worked together to find as many children as soon as possible, once President Trump took office.

President Trump was willing to fight child and human trafficking, see that child predators are put away for good, and make the world better for their future. Right away on his first day in office he set operations in motion to find the children and catch child predators and bring them to Justice.

How can you help? Speak up for the children. There are still more to be found. Stand with the men and women in uniform who are working round the clock to find them. Call your Members of Congress and Senators and urge them to support these efforts to catch predators and find and rescue the children.

Thank you.
