Prayer of Persistence

Light emerges in a Storm

Father,

In accordance with your will and the teachings of your son, we seek to address our pain. In order to have compassion for others as well as ourselves, we strive to understand the pain we’ve been carrying, and realize that by taking up the cross, we are more able to grasp what another carries. In that, we are better able to transform and lift another through gentle kindness. As Colossians says, “clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” and in that, we wish to be a lift to this world.

Father we ask for the blessing of transformation in that our pain is reshaped into empathy for the pain of others so that we may rise out of dense perspectives and stuck ways of looking at things. We know your light makes everything brighter and lighter, Father, and we invite that light into ourselves and into everyone around us. We embrace the possibility of miracles and healing, because we know that your son came to show us how it’s done. And so we believe because, “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.” (Galatians)

As weakness is turned to strength, we feel your hand touching our face, coaxing us into lighthearted ease. We feel the invitation to be filled and lifted by your divine light. Because when we are filled with your love, we can live our lives at full capacity. Let us be your love in this world, as we administer to those who are suffering. To bring your light wherever our feet touch the Earth and to sing your song of truth and peace, and let it ring out to permeate all airspace.

In gratitude and loving service,

Amen
