Something Old, Something New

If you ever wondered how a full time RVer moves into their new house on wheels, it’s pretty unique.  They pull your old home up one way, and your new home up backwards, so the doors are facing eachother.

Then you shuffle things over to the new home and try to find places for everything.  Note:  Old organizational systems for storing things probably won’t work in the new home and you probably have to devise whole new systems, if possible.

Very important that your pet (four legged human) realizes they are moving by laying out their bedding and toys in the new place so they can claim their new spots.

Angie found her food and water dish…

…so everything was fine and dandy.

It was pretty entertaining watching Mom and Dad run around like morons.  She finally got tired of watching us and settled in.

From the side, you can see how much longer our new home is.  It also has one more slide.

You can also see that it’s a little taller.  We’ll have to re-program our Garmin GPS for a higher bridge height.

Bath and bed.

Rest of bedroom.

Part of the new living room.

Other side of living room and dinette.

Unfortunately we were forced to spend the weekend here at La Mesa RV because there’s more work to be done on our truck.  Most RV Dealerships have hookups for you to spend the night.  They serve a free lunch here so we’ve been pretty comfortable while we’ve been putting things away and getting organized.  So far, we’ve donated two bags of clothes and two boxes of stuff to Good Will and The Salvation Army.

We are hoping the work will be completed tomorrow and we’ll be on our way back to Quartzsite.

  1. Beautiful new home; thanks for sharing the photos. Yes, an RV moving day is unique and just as much work as moving sticks-n-bricks homes if one is a full-timer! Lucky you in that you've had more time. We had about 6 hours to move from one rig to another but at least they were buddy parked in the shop bays! The fun part is finding new places for things and then remember where you put them! So very happy for you three! Hugs to Angie!

  2. Beautiful!!! Love the cabinets. Now….what was your other rig? …and what is this one? Will you be using California as you home of record….if not, what state are you planning on using? Enjoy your new home!! It's gorgeous

  3. Thanks all! Our last 5th wheel was a Keystone Cougar and the new one is a Carriage Cameo. BIG difference in quality as far as full timers are concerned.

We are using South Dakota as our domicile state. There is a service for full time RVers called Alternative Resources that handles all registrations and mail forwarding. If you decide to use them, please mention us, we're number 3261.
