Our New Fifth Wheel

If you want to see a wide array of RV makes and models, Quartzsite in January is the place to be.  There must have been 20 dealerships and lots scattered around town.  The last time we were here, this little town was swollen and in full swing.  Now, RVs are being moved out to other lots in other towns as Quartzsite settles down and slowly quiets.

On our last visit, we looked at various models, and our favorite was the MVP Destiny (see our previous post).  Today, we went looking again and narrowed it down to our favorite from last time, the Destiny (a brand new company), and one by an established and proven manufacturer, the Cameo, by Carriage.
Boy, we sure loved that Destiny… but, in the end, we settled on the 3-slide Cameo.  37 feet in length, two air conditioners, generator, stacked washer/dryer, Corian countertops, two flat screens, leather Lay Z Boy recliners and fireplace.

We really like the use of space in the kitchen and the island/breakfast bar.

Large flat screen with surround sound will be well used.

Main living area opens to a walk thru full bath and bedroom.

The unit was being cleaned at the time I took these pictures.  We will be making the switch from our little 31 foot, 2-slide Cougar next week in Yuma, just an hour south of here.  Not sure how long that will take, but you can believe that it will be an adventure.

We’ve been very happy with our Cougar, but… been a little cramped and now that we have spent 8 months on the road, and loving it, we’re wanting a little more comfort and places to put things, rather than jam everything in and then try to find it.  We’ll also be going through what we have and donating to the local thrift shop here in Quartzsite.

Tomorrow we have our orientation at the Gem and Mineral Club.  We’re looking forward to it and meeting the members of the club.  Should be another exciting day.
