Almost one month til we settle on the house and every day we make a little more progress. The truck now has some new rain guards to deter rain from getting in open windows. Also two new steps were installed on each side of the truck bed in front of the wheel wells, enabling us to get into the truck bed to preform the hitching and unhitching process better. New brakes for life on the road and we should be set until fall, unless our travels cause us to wear out the brakes early.

In the past week, we tweaked the surround sound system, sanitized and flushed the fresh water tank, installed more hooks and organizers, brought Angie’s toys to their new spot, and washed both truck and trailer. Of course, in taking two steps forward we took a step back… while on the roof washing it, I lost my balance and put my hand through the vent cover, cracking it. It now has duck tape on it. That’s gonna have to be fixed…

We bought some unfinished shelves of various shapes and sizes at AC Moore and will stain them to match the wood interior and neighbor Ed will help install them while putting some extra shelving inside cabinets to utilize the high space inside. We’ll be needing step ladders inside on a daily basis for sure. Oh well, could be worse… there could be no storage space… 🙂

Also set up our mobile broadband today with Millenicom’s Novatel USB device and Cradlepoint router. Have to finalize the installation of the antenna and booster still. Tomorrow, we make a list of all the light bulbs and buy some extras to keep on hand. Still having two charitable donation pick-ups coming for the last of the things we’re not keeping. Boring little details, but every detail crossed off the list bring us closer to the big moment…

As for rockhounding… getting the last rockhounding in before we leave here. Found my best specimen of Mocha colored Albite Moonstone. This one looks more like Labradorite than any I’ve found so far.
